Book Review: Tales Of A Shaman’s Apprentice

Millions of college students face ethical and moral dilemmas every day. And shockingly enough, research has shown that many students will plagiarize. Due to the fact that many classes are now offered online, it is difficult for students and staff members to avoid academic dishonesty. Academic honesty is more important than ever before with the advent of new technology. Online classes do not require a physical connection between the instructor and student.

Academic integrity is important for you, your college/university, and for new ideas. Doing your work with a positive attitude is the best way to ensure that you have a chance to make progress. Avoiding negative outcomes, such as failing the course or a specific assignment, or even being told to leave your college or university is important. You’re investing time and energy in earning a diploma or degree, which is a step towards achieving success in the chosen field. You will build your professional knowledge and skills on what you learn at college/university. The University must be aware that the way students and staff work and study at the university or college will influence how other people view the university or college. It is important that the University be reliable in its assessments and measures of courses, so that the network can have faith in those who receive degrees. The University is committed to tackling academic misconduct in every way.

Last but not the least, academic integrity is vital for innovation and creativity. When submitting academic work, it’s crucial to acknowledge the sources you used. This will allow the reader to know how the information was constructed and give credit to the people whose opinions and data were utilized. I believe that academic integrity is a way to show you’re serious about your work. Your work is original and you did not copy or cheat. Knowing that you are able to do your own work, understand what’s being taught and can finish it yourself makes you want to know more. You should be able to complete any tests, assignments or other tasks with total trustworthiness. Scholarly integrity is at the heart of all that we do. As you progress in school, you also develop as a person. You learn more as you go along, and you discover things that you would have never considered. It is important to maintain a distance, such as from plagiarism. When a student copies another’s work or sees their paper, they violate academic integrity. The act of cheating shows that the student has not learned anything. The person is relying on someone else’s claim to support their position. I agree with this policy. If you can’t complete your own work, you can’t possibly do anything. You should be able to write a paper entirely in your words or at least the majority, and give credit for the rest.

Regarding scholarly integrity, I offer a reflection that is based on the experience of my studenthood and deception with academics. When I was caught copying my classmate’s words and tasks for an assignment in my computer science EECS1530 class, it was my fault. I took the alternate route for the given errand, which was so unreasonable for myself, the other students and the staff. I promise, and I’ll make sure this never happens again in my lifetime. It is regrettable, and academic dishonesty must be taken seriously and not done at all costs.
