The International Mobile Subscriber Identity(imsi)

The international mobile subscriber number (IMSI) can be used to identify a unique number. It usually uses the fifteen digits. TIMSI identifies GSM subscribers.

There are two parts to the number. The first part comprises six digits according to the North American Standard and five digits according to the European Standard. The second part of the allocation is used to allow the network operator’s unique identification.

The IMSI (information management system) stores the USIM. This information is then transmitted to the appropriate network. It’s used to retrieve details about the mobile device from the Home Location Register in (HLR), and Visitor Location Register in (VLR). This is embedded within the SIM of your mobile device and provided whenever networks are accessed. This information is sent during initialization. The IMSI is transmitted in a short form to protect the user from being tracked and identified by radio interface eavesdroppers. Randomly, the Temporary Mobility Subscriber Identity is generated. This will ensure that the identity and privacy of the mobile user are kept private.

The 64-bit IMSI field is stored on the SIM card of the phone. The IMSI identifies mobile networks that are interconnected to other networks. This includes CDMA networks and GSM networks. This number can be found directly on the handset or R-UIM cards.

IMSI is composed of the Mobile Country Code Mobile Network Code as well as the Mobile Subscriber Identification. The IMSI’s Mobile Country Code has the same meaning as the IMSI’s location area identifier. The government assigns a mobile web number with the same meaning and format to the location identifier. Operator assigns the mobile subscriber identification number.

The mobile station’s battery is turned on and they begin a location update process by sending their IMSI to network. The IMSI attachment procedure is the first process for updating your location. The mobile station can also update the location to indicate where you are when you move to another location. The VLR will send the update message, which provides location information to HLR subscribers. Regular updates. The mobile station cannot be deregistered if the registration period has expired. The IMSI detachment procedure informs networks that the mobile station has been disconnected when it is offline.
